2023 Entry Form

Hello writers,

You may submit as many stories as you like to the 2023 Brick Lane Bookshop Short Story Prize, but please use a separate form for each entry.

Entries cannot be re-submitted, so before you fill in this form, please:

  • ensure your name is not on your PDF file, (or in the file name, or header or footer!). It’s really important the competition is judged anonymously so regrettably any entries that reveal the author’s identity will be disqualified.
  • No changes can be made to your entry after submitting, so please edit, spell-check and re-read your story carefully.

  • There’s a new option on the form to pay forward a free entry for a writer on a low income. We offer as many free entries as we can but these are often oversubscribed. If you’d like to sponsor an entry for a writer unable to afford one, please select that drop-down option before submitting your entry. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated.

  • If you have any issues filling out this form, please let us know by emailing [email protected]

Thank you and good luck!

Click or drag a file to this area to upload.
Please use the title of your story followed by the word count as your file name. eg: Bookshops are Great 1978. Your name must not be anywhere on your PDF file, if it is your entry will be disqualified. Please refer to our File Specifications before uploading.

The BLB Podcast is a new project from Brick Lane Bookshop where we interrogate the short story form. We talk about why we love short stories, the writing process and how to get published.
